IO Interactive, in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, has released the Hitman 2 Starter Pack for free.
The Starter Pack allows players to experience the Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand area, and enter the World of Assassination. Players get to access not only a new starting location, but also new weapons and hidden stashes. Players who manage to finish this location can test their abilities by playing it again under Professional or Master difficulty.
This Starter Pack also gives players ability to access “Nightcall,” the opening campaign mission in Hitman 2. All progression that is earned from the Starter Pack is carried over to the full game, should the player choose to buy it.
In addition to the Starter Pack, IO Interactive is also offering Elusive Target No. 4, dubbed as “The Politician.” This content is available starting March 8 and ends on March 17. Since it will be located in Hawke’s Bay, both Hitman 2 owners and those who downloaded the Starter Pack will be able to participate.
In the game, “The Politician” is a certain Dame Barbara Elizabeth Keating. Formerly the Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, it was discovered that her charity was funneling funds to her very own offshore interests. This forced her to resign in disgrace. Dame Barbara pointed the blame to her own charity’s director. Currently she is trying to build back her reputation and eventually restore her standing. In order to protect herself, it is said that she uses body doubles when attending public events.
During the event, players will get a one-time limited opportunity to take out Dame Barbara and will have a total of 10 days to complete the mission.
Hitman 2 is available now for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
