Sony and Guerrilla Games published a new Horizon Zero Dawn trailer this week to celebrate the arrival of this year’s Tokyo Game Show , and it may be the first time the game’s plot has been given more screentime than its gameplay. There aren’t many surprises in this week’s Horizon Zero Dawn trailer, unless you haven’t kept a close eye on the game, but we do get a glimpse of what Earth looked like just before the fall of mankind.
Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, Horizon Zero Dawn follows the adventures of Aloy, one of the increasingly few humans still alive on Earth roughly 1,000 years after cataclysmic event. Vegetation has reclaimed the many cities that used to dot the planet and robotic dinosaurs now roam the planet, creating a surreal environment that feels as futuristic as it does jurassic. It’s not clear what left the planet in such a state, or if humanity will ever be able to reclaim its spot at the top of the food chain, but the game will apparently follow Aloy as she tries to find her mother and figure out how she ended up part of a tribe that doesn’t really want anything to do with her .
