The recent parade of Horizon Zero Dawn trailers continues this week, ahead of the game’s retail debut on Feb. 28, but there isn’t much to see (or learn) in our latest look at Horizon Zero Dawn.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t some value in this week’s preview. “Earth Is Ours No More” isn’t the longest game trailer we’ve ever seen, or a vehicle for any new tidbits of information about the game, but TV trailers tend to be much shorter than the extended gameplay videos released via YouTube and video game news sites. On the plus side, the clip does an excellent job of communicating the basics – mankind is on its last leg, giant machines are everywhere and a young hunter is humanity’s last hope – to those less familiar with Horizon Zero Dawn.
The new trailer emerges less than a week after Sony and Guerrilla wrapped up The Machines, a series of short Horizon Zero Dawn trailers spotlighting specific creatures from the game’s robotic bestiary. The four-part series offered breakdowns of Behemoths, Snapjaws, Stormbirds and Thunderjaws; creatures we’ve seen in several Horizon Zero Dawn videos over the last 18-plus months. This week’s video isn’t nearly as informative, but does at least include a pretty cool timelapse segment, early in the trailer, showing nature reclaim a city after mankind’s decline.
