The Week 22 Content Update for ICARUS is an interesting one. That’s because all exotic deposit locations are now randomized, so getting exotic matter is a bit more challenging to do now than before.
Exotics are items that help you complete your prospects in ICARUS. If you want to craft more complex exotics, you’ll need a currency that can only be acquired through mining exotic material. As you can already tell, this material can be extracted from exotic deposits.
Back then, exotic deposit locations were fixed and consistent, meaning that you already know exactly where to find them before you start the prospect. However, exotic deposits are now randomized in each run, so you’ll have to use radar to find them. That said, three new radars and extractors have been added in the Week 22 Content Update.
The biofuel radar and extractor are available at Tier 3 and use biofuel to operate. These things are easily accessible due to the fuel needed. They also have a low chance to attract animal life when used.
The Tier 4 radar and extractor are better than the Tier 3 alternatives. However, they require electricity to operate. Despite its use of a more advanced fueling system, it does provide faster and more accurate scanning capabilities. Keep in mind that local enemies are more likely to get attracted to them, so it’s best to have them guarded.
The IC-001 radar and extractor are the most advanced in this lineup and can only be purchased through the Workshop. While the radar does not require energy to operate, the IC-001 extractor needs the IC-001 Prototype Power Source to work. This unique power source is available at the workshop as well.
Changelog
- Added feature where Extractors and Radars can be damaged and destroyed
- Radars while active will now attract animals that will attack them while it is active
- Players' old extractors will exist in their current state but are no longer craftable
- Workshop Radar and Extractor
- Workshop Purchasable MXC Biofuel Can. This item comes pre-filled with Biofuel and can be returned to the Station for free refilling
- Workshop Purchasable IC-001 Power Source item which is used to power the IC-001 Extractor. This item is for one-time use and cannot be returned to the Station. Multiple Power Sources should be brought with you on drops where large amounts of Exotics are expected to be extracted
- Player Loadouts now come down in the player's dropship and not on their person. This was to fix issues with certain items requiring more space than any player could have (multiple Utility slot items, for example)
