Black Manta will be the latest DLC character coming to Injustice 2. NetherRealm Studios has released the first gameplay trailer for Aquaman’s archnemesis, and he is surprisingly versatile.
Take a look at Black Manta’s first gameplay in Injustice 2 below.
Black Manta uses an array of weapons to fight with, including his signature blades, jetpack, rocket launchers and laser beams that project from the eyes on his helmet. From the gameplay trailer, it seems his jetpack may be the most useful part of his arsenal, allowing the villain to float in the air and avoid projectiles and ground attacks.
He can also disappear into the ground and appear using an uppercut. The aforementioned rocket launchers can act as anti-air defense and also as a way to “kick up” opponents to continue or start combos, but players will need to meter burn this special attack to perform the kick up.
Black Manta’s eye beams act like Supergirl’s and can be meter burned to give an extra jolt to deal major damage or to knock an opponent back. The villain also has his spear gun, which can be used to bring an opponent from across the stage closer. Black Manta’s ultimate move lets him use all of his weapons to deal some major damage.
Black Manta will join Raiden from Mortal Kombat and Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics as the three new fighters in Fighter Pack 2, coming soon to Injustice 2. Black Manta was already present in Injustice 2 as a part of the stage transition in the Atlantis stage, a fact that he shares with the Martian Manhunter in the first Injustice game.
J’onn J'onzz was in the background of the Watchtower stage in the first Injustice game before being added to the roster as DLC.
Black Manta will join Injustice 2 in September but a specific date was not released, we will update as soon as we learn more.
