It is still a long way to go before The International 2020 arrives, but Valve has already made the announcement of the upcoming event’s next location. The prestigious Dota 2 tournament is headed to Stockholm, Sweden.
Valve made the big announcement between the lower bracket finals and the grand finals of this year’s The International. Stockholm Mayor Anna Konig Jerlmyr welcomed the entire Dota 2 community during the announcement of the tenth iteration of the tournament.
The official Twitter page of The International released a video featuring the Ericson Globe, the very location of the tournament. It is an arena shaped like a huge white ball, and it offers a 16,000 seat capacity.
Stockholm is no stranger to Dota 2 tournaments. It was the main host of one of the Pro Circuit Majors this year called The DreamLeague Season 11 Major. Even more so, it is home to some of the world’s biggest Dota 2 fans.
The International 2020 is shaping up to be a highly anticipated iteration. After all, it is a celebration of a decade of amazing competition. As of this writing, Valve has kept all other details about the tenth iteration under wraps. The venue is the only piece of information tied to the upcoming tournament.
More information about TI20 is expected to surface, though, as soon as details about the Pro Circuit Season 3 are released. By then, fans will know exactly the path pro players have to take in order to make it to the prominent Dota 2 tourney.
The International 2020 announcement joins other major announcements from Valve. In particular, there will be two new heroes coming to the game, namely, Snapfire and Void Spirit.
While it is too early to predict, OG is gearing up to be a fan favorite for TI20. Fans are hoping for the team to achieve another major milestone by being the first Dota 2 pro team to win TI championships three times. Right now, the Europe-based esports team is bathing in the glory of being the TI9 champions – the very first team to win back-to-back TI championships.
