Schematics for the 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch iPhone 7 have surfaced once again showing that the camera won’t be flush with the casting. The images indicate a slight, but unnoticeable, increase in body thickness by .1 mm. As expected, there is no headphone jack. The extra space is taken up by a larger second speaker.
The iPhone 7 Plus rendering is a bit more suspicious than its little sister. MacRumors points out that the schematics depict no FaceTime Camera for the 5.5 inch iPhone, also showing a frameless display in which the screen stretches from edge to edge. This feature seems a far-fetched, considering there’s been little indication Apple is interested in a complete design overhaul for the Phone 7. For the most part, both the standard and the Plus are expected to look very similar to the iPhone 6s. There has, however, been a lot of talk about a dual-camera system that will be exclusive to iPhone 7 Plus.
The iPhone 7 will have redesigned antenna lines and a Smart Connector, which are also visible in the drawings. Wireless or hybrid EarPods are expected to replace the standard 3.5 mm jack. The iPhone 7 is also rumored to be entirely dust- and water-resistant, have an A10 processor, 3GB RAM and upgraded LTE chips. According to reports , Apple’s supply chain has already started gearing up for production.
KGI Securities reports we’ll have to wait until the iPhone 8 releases for a complete design overhaul, such as a frameless, wraparound screen with ‘virtual buttons’ . Expected in 2017, the iPhone 8 is rumored to feature an all glass frame with AMOLED screen. The iPhone 7 is expected to launch this fall.
