There’s been a lot of talk about a possible dual-camera system exclusive to iPhone 7 Plus. Now there’s reason to believe the iPhone 7’s most anticipated feature won’t be included after all. According to the latest report out of China’s supply chain, the new camera tech won’t be ready in time for the iPhone 7’s release come fall.
The report goes so far to say Apple has scrapped all plans to include the dual-lens camera that would give the iPhone the capacity to take close to DSLR-quality images. One user on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo reports sources at Foxconn, one of Apple’s main suppliers, said the dual lens camera is simply too immature of a technology to be rolled out for the iPhone 7.
Take this rumor with a grain of salt considering a dual-lens camera was visible on recent iPhone 7 Plus schematics and phone case prototypes. Reliable KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also long corroborated the camera upgrade rumors.
Aside from the dual-lens system, the iPhone 7’s headphone jack will be replaced by a second speaker and feature redesigned antenna lines and a Smart Connector. Wireless or hybrid EarPods with an adapter are expected to come with the iPhone in place of the 3.5mm slot. The iPhone 7 is also rumored to be entirely dust- and water-resistant, have an A10 processor, 3GB RAM and upgraded LTE chips. According to reports , Apple’s supply chain has already started gearing up for production.
