‘Iron Fist’ Set Photos Show First Look At Finn Jones As Danny Rand [PHOTOS]

If you needed proof Marvel’s Iron Fist Netflix series is underway, now you have it. Finn Jones’ Iron Fist was spotted filming in the streets of New York City on Monday. This marks our first look at the Game of Thrones star’s portrayal of Danny Rand, a superhuman who harnesses the energy of Shou-Lao and the power of chi into his iconic iron fist.

The instagrammer who captured the wide-shot of Iron Fist ’s set from their office window believes the series is going by the production title, “Kick,” which matches early casting rumors revealing the show’s codename. Fans reported on Twitter earlier this week that ‘Kick’ would be filming at Liberty St and Nassau St Monday, April 18. Another image reveals ‘Kick’ will continue filming at E 52nd St and Park Ave on Wednesday, April 20.

These set photos arrive on the heels of another Iron Fist casting announcement: Joy and Ward Meachum. Jessica Stroup ( 90210, The Following ) and Tom Pelphrey (Banshee) will portray the kin of crude corporate leader, Harold Meachum ( recently cast as Lord of The Rings’ David Wenham ).

“The children of Harold Meachum, Joy and Ward have spent their lives building Rand Enterprises to its current standing in the world, only to have all their work put in jeopardy when Danny returns to claim his birthright,”Marvel’s press release reads.

Harold Meachum was partners with Wendell and Heather Rand at the time of their death in the comics. After letting Wendell fall to his demise, Harold gets lost near K'un-Lun and nearly freezes to death. Both of his legs were then amputated due to frostbite.

When Iron Fist arrives in New York City, he decides to spare Meachum’s life. However, he was eventually assassinated by a mysterious ninja. Joey and Ward (who is actually Harold’s brother in the comics) seek revenge for their loved one’s death. It’s unclear if this will scenario will play out like the original story, but the Meachum-Iron Fist beef will carry over into the series in some way shape or form.

Iron Fist will see Fellow Game of Thrones actress Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. She’ll be an invaluable ally to Danny Rand as he returns to his life in New York from after leaving K’un-L’un.

Known as one of the best martial artists in the MCU, Shang-Chi is also rumored to join the cast. There’s no word on who will be bringing his character to life. Since Iron Fist just started filming, there should be more casting announcements on the way.

Iron Fist is the last installment in a four-part plan, which will eventually merge Marvel’s four Netflix characters--Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist--together for the Defenders series.

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Luke Cage is the next to premiere on Netflix on September 30. Iron Fist has no confirmed release date, but isn’t expected until 2017.
