Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy , one of the best platformers of the PlayStation 2 era, is coming to PS4. And Naughty Dog says fans can expect all of the duo’s adventures to make the jump. Even if they aren’t taking the form that some Jak and Daxter fans hoped for.
Four games from the Naughty Dog catalogue will join the PS2 Classics catalog later this year. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy will be joined by both its sequels, Jak II and Jak 3 , along with Jak X: Combat Racing -- a relic of an era when every major publisher hoped to replicate the success of Mario Kart . Unfortunately, the franchise isn’t getting the Definitive Edition treatment that’s become quite popular in recent years. Naughty Dog says all four games will include 1080p up-rendering, so they won’t look distorted on modern TVs, but don’t expect to see high definition textures or native 4K support when the Jak and Daxter franchise hits PS4.
The studio also confirmed the upcoming Jak and Daxter ports will support a handful of modern console features. All four titles will include trophy support, for those who still enjoy collecting Sony’s version of achievements, and will also tie into the PS4 Activity Feed. Remote Play will also be supported, for Vita and PC owners, as will Shareplay.
