Jared Leto is allegedly licking his wounds and telling everyone he’s mad at Warner Bros. Studios for cutting his Joker scenes in Suicide Squad.
OK, maybe Leto’s not mad, but he’s “hurt.” Batman-News reports Leto recently did a Q&A portion during his fan event, Camp Mars. There he was asked about the Suicide Squad movie, and a fan shared his response on their Tumblr page:
[Leto] was very honest about the film this weekend; his disappointment in what he’s learned of the theatrical cut (he’s still not seen the film); feeling sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently; thinking it would’ve been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices…
There’s no video of Leto’s response, so we suggest taking this with a grain of salt. Any actor would be upset to learn their screen time was cut significantly . The movie could’ve explored the Joker-Harley dynamic a bit more. Also, Leto went all method-actor for the Joker role, and reportedly walked around the set in character . Seems like a lot of work for a really shitty storyline.
Still, Leto wasn’t the worst part of the Suicide Squad movie (we’re looking at you, Enchantress), so there’s that small silver lining. Whether Leto will continue to play the Joker is left to be seen, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to get out of his contract. After all, you can’t talk crap about a franchise and expect the studio to be OK with it.
