BBC thought it had the advantage when the media giant premiered its completely revamped Top Gear well in advance of Jeremy Clarkson's new show. The former host, along with Richard Hammond and James May, had only just announced the name of the new show on Amazon Prime, The Grand Tour, and didn't even have a logo to go with the name. However, slow and steady wins the race – the new logo for The Grand Tour is finally revealed! Meanwhile, the new Top Gear with Chris Evans looks like it's headed for disaster.
Personally, I think the name really suits the sort of show I expect Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow to make. And despite the somewhat retro '80s feel of the logo, it's also good to see that the trio aren't sweating the details or worry too much about giving the logo a modern or edgy flair. Ultimately, The Grand Tour will be judged by the quality of its entertainment and nothing else. Obviously, our favorite trios knows this and with its renewed creative freedom with Amazon, expectations are high. What's more, fans that are disappointed with the new Top Gear are desperate for The Grand Tour to be nothing less than sensational.
The very first episode of The Grand Tour is set to tape on July 17 at Johannesburg, South Africa. The Grand Tour release date is in August. Stay tuned for more The Grand Tour announcements in the weeks ahead!
