The epic Suicide Squad trailer wasn’t the only teaser DC Film dropped during the CW’s Dawn of Justice League special. DC Films released the first Justice League teaser featuring members Aquaman and Cyborg as well.
Cyborg actor Ray Fisher and Aquaman actor Jason Momoa made a brief appearance in the special. Dawn of Justice League was meant to introduce the characters to viewers who weren’t familiar with their superhero backstories. Most superhero fans are familiar with The Flash, thanks to the CW, but not much is known about Cyborg and Aquaman. Check out what Momoa and Fisher had to say about their characters in the videos below.
Momoa’s landing the role of Aquaman was one of the worst kept secrets during early stages of the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice production. Momoa denied having a connection to the DC films up until the announcemeny by Warner Bros Studios in 2014. Momoa has since rarely discussed the character except during Q&As at fan conferences.
This last time Momoa spoke about Aquaman was during Toronto for Fan Expo Canada 2015 during a Game of Thrones panel. Many fans are skeptical about seeing Aquaman on the big screen, some going as far as making fun of the King of Atlantis. Momoa told the panel he didn’t care about the Aquaman jokes and couldn’t wait to see the new interpretation of the character.
“You know, it’s cute and funny,” Momoa told the panel audience referring to the Aquaman jokes. “I mean, people make fun of him and there’s a bunch of jokes about him. But I’m like ‘Well… just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit’. And then we can make jokes…”
Justice League: Part 1 hits theaters Nov.17, 2017.
