If you're one of those who like to solve mysteries and crack cases, then you should give The Lawyer a shot. The game offers a crime story combined with courtroom drama. It's set in the 90s with players getting access to full of time-accurate technology and crime-solving equipment. This one is an episodic game with the first one titled "The Red Bathtub."
The game follows the story of Mark Ferry. A fallen attorney-at-law, Ferry recently left rehab in the hopes of starting both his life and career from scratch. With this background, it's going to take a lot of time and effort for him to regain trust among acquaintances and get his former position back. Players will also meet Hector Diaz, a private eye who works for Ferry and helps during the investigation and evidence gathering.
While cases are separated by episodes, decisions have short and long-lasting consequences. In addition, they're going to impact future events and the entire storyline.
Investigation
The game is divided into two parts with the first being the investigation. In this part, players need to decide how they handle the witnesses and any evidence found. It goes without saying that visiting the crime scene is important along with other locations. The goal is to look for possible clues, examine potential evidence, and interrogate witnesses. Players eventually need to make a decision on what to do with everything. In the investigation part, players can switch between Ferry and Diaz.
Courtroom
The second part is the courtroom. Here, players need to use everything they know about the case. The challenge is to beat the district attorney, who's going to be doing everything to get the jury's favor. The result of the trial isn't only based on the performance during the trial but also previous decisions made.
