Riot Games's decision regarding Hextech Chests in "League of Legends" Season 15 has been met with criticisms from gamers. This is because since the "League" adopted the Battle Pass experience, they made Hextech Chests available for real money purchases before removing it entirely from the game.
Season 15 was set to bring significant changes to the "League," but this also meant the sunsetting of Hextech Chests. Now, Riot Games is changing their mind.
'League of Legends' Hextech Chests Are Coming Back After Removal
Riot Games quickly amended their mistakes and are now giving their global fanbase what they want as Hextech Chests are set to make their grand return to "League of Legends," according to the latest Dev Update released.
Riot developers Meddler and Pabro have addressed the recent move by the company to remove the Hextech Chests, claiming that it is a highly enjoyed feature in the MOBA game.
The developers claimed that Hextech Chests are more than what they thought it was for players, particularly in giving players rewards based on their experiences and gameplay.
Because of the overwhelming response from the "League's" players, Riot Games has decided to bring them back as part of the "Act" system that the MOBA game has adopted, according to GameRant. To be more precise, Riot Games claimed that Hextech Chests will make a comeback by the start of Act 2, and it will return as a reward for players who complete achievements in the game.
This will officially be part of the patch that is coming out next week, and it will be under the Battle Pass progression. However, it will remain available for free.
Moreover, Meddler and Pabro revealed that players can earn up to ten Chests and Keys per Act in return, and players no longer have to earn these through Champion Mastery.
Season 15 Backlash: Riot Games' Infamous Hextech Chest Removal
Riot Games made the infamous decision to remove Hextech Chests as it looked to focus its offers through the Battle Pass-like experience in the game, which is a paid gaming feature. It remains unclear why Riot Games removed Hextech Chests entirely despite its popularity among the community as it offers the chance to earn random Champions, Skins, and other in-game items.
As per the latest announcement, eight of the ten Hextech Chests and Keys will be available to earn from the free Pass, which means that it is not required to buy the paid access to receive the chests. On the other hand, two more chests will be given to gamers via the Honor system.
