Cloud 9, one of the oldest League Of Legends teams in North America, has finally announced it’s roster for the 2017 season. Like all roster swaps, the internet was speculating who will make the final cut. Will Hai return to the team that made him? Will Meteos come back as the team’s jungler? That’s a no for both of those, but now we know who exactly is on C9’s final roster for the Spring Split.
Reapered- Head Coach: One of the best League Of Legends players to ever hit the rift, Reapered is now coming on to coach C9 full time. Starting as a player in 2011, he quickly rose through the ranks on Jin Air Greenwings and is now continuing his career behind the scenes. Though the language barrier has been difficult to get over, since Reapered speaks barely any English, C9 excels at their laning and overall teamplay when this Korean coaches them.
Cain- Assistant Coach: You may not have heard of Cain before, but you definitely should have. Starting all the way back in 2012, he’s played on both Najin teams and CJ Entus in the LCK. Having another Korean around can only help make the team dynamic even stronger.
Impact- Top Laner: Former World Champion for SK Telecom and Fiora god, it’s Impact. After struggling a bit on his move to NA on NRG and Team impulse, Impact had an amazing season with C9 during the 2016 Summer Split. Three Koreans on one team might sound like a bit much for an NA team, but if anyone can make it work, it’s C9.
Ray- Sub Top Laner: Ray is one of the strongest top laners in League , if anyone could be Impact’s understudy, it’s this guy. A Chinese player who formerly played for Edward Gaming, he helped Apex Gaming become a dominant force in the NA LCS. Now he’s on a team with more money and support to back him. The only place he can go is up.
Jensen- Mid Laner: Don’t call him Incarnati0n, Jensen is here to kick some ass. The second best mid laner in NA (I’m a TSM fan boy, <3 Bjergsen) Jensen will be continuing to follow Hai’s legacy as the mid laner for C9. Whether it’s disgustingly accurate Orianna ultimates or picking weird champions like Vel’koz, Jensen will help C9 dominate the competition.
Sneaky- ADC: I’ll miss you Meteos.
Smoothie- Support: One of the leftovers from last season, Smoothie will continue as C9’s support. Stepping into Lemonnation’s shoes wasn’t easy, but Smoothie has managed to fill them quite nicely. His Bard and Alistair player is ahead of the curve and nobody and Karma is a weapon in his hand.
With this roster, Cloud9 should have no problem going to the World Championship.
