When you first start playing League of Legends , you are forced to pick a Summoner name. After playing for a while, the name you picked might start to seem childish or just plain bad. My first account was called “BowserTeemo” and I absolutely hated it. I didn’t have the money to buy Riot Points or the massive amount of IP needed to change it, so I had to let that account go.
I sometimes wonder whatever happened to that monstrosity of an account: is my one skin, Workshop Nunu, lonely? Or have the Riot gods in the sky deactivated the account? Unfortunately, the account password was the same one I used for my Neopets account, and time has taken that information away from me.
Chances are if you’ve been playing League for a while, you might want to try something new with your name. Reddit detective 5hin3 , did a little digging in Riot’s Support Frequently Asked Questions and found this:
CAN I CHANGE THE SPACING OR CAPITALIZATION OF MY SUMMONER NAME FOR FREE?
Yes! As a one-time exception, you can change the spacing and capitalization of your Summoner name without having to purchase a Summoner name change. For example, you can change your name from "nancymon" to "nancy mon" or "Nancymon" at no cost.
In order to do this, send us a ticket with the following subject line:
SUBJECT: Summoner Name Change
If you’re feeling a little bored with your name and want to try to spice things up in your League life, this might not be a terrible idea. I’m sure once reddit floods Riot’s inbox with name change requests, they are going to deactivate the service, so you’d better use it while you still can.
