Thanksgiving hasn’t even started, but it already looks like Christmas in League Of Legends. Riot Games’ Instagram page unveiled three new Snowdown Showdown skins, featuring Draven, Poppy and Miss Fortune. Capitalizing on Runeterra’s most festive time of year, Ambitious Elf Jinx, Santa Draven and Snow Fawn Poppy bring a whole new level of cheer to anyone with enough RP to buy them. With the PROJECT skins coming in patch 7.23 and these following right after, that’s four new Marksmen skins in just a few weeks, so if your archers or gunslingers have been feeling a little tame, here’s your chance to wild.
Like every Snowdown Showdown skin, these will be available for a limited time, most likely until the middle of January.
It doesn’t seem like Riot Games wants to acknowledge that there are any other holidays besides Christmas, which is kind of disheartening. Like most popular media, besides that one Rugrats special where Tommy learns all about his Jewish heritage, Hanukkah representation has felt pretty barren. Maybe I’m just bitter about that, but I think Taliyah would look awesome with some olive oil tucked beneath her arm, and I’d really love if League could add some variety to their Winter skins. Maybe one day, I’ll get my Hanukah Warwick and Menorah Singed, but I’m not keeping my fingers crossed.
I’m also a bit bummed at the champions they chose to represent the most magical time of year. Jinx works as a mischievous elf, but we’ve already seen multiple skins for her in the last few years. The same can be said about fellow Star Guardian Poppy, who kind of creeps me out as an anthropomorphized deer person. Can Yordles be elk, or is it just a skin? These are the questions that keep me up at night. Then there’s Santa Draven, the second Saint Nicholas in the Snowdown Showdown line of skins. Tyler1 fans have been dying for a new Draven skin and who’s got a bigger ego than a magical old man who has to break the speed of sound just to get his job done?
What’s your favorite 2017 Snowdown Showdown skin? Send a letter to Santa saying you’ve been a good kid and hope that he can’t see your chat history, you toxic monster.
