The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an upcoming highly anticipated game set in a world filled with Orcs, Ents, and Hobbits. Revealed last year, Gollum took the gaming community and Lord of the Rings fans by surprise, and now we have additional information about what to expect.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be a stealth-action game with a branching narrative. Initially, Gollum was announced to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, but now it has been confirmed that the game will also be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
The recent trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum shared new details about its gameplay and story. Gollum will put the player in the shoes of Smeagol/Gollum, who has lost the One Ring to Bilbo Baggins. Gollum has to now embark on a quest to recover the ring. Gollum will have moments where players can choose between the decisions of Gollum or Smeagol. It is also said that Gollum will apparently have some allies on his journey to retrieve the One Ring.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be set within the LOTR universe in the year 2463. The Lord of the Rings series has interesting narratives and we are hoping that the upcoming game will do the franchise justice.
It'll be interesting to see how stealth elements will play out in the game. From how developer Daedalic describes things, it seems that the Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be a stealth-dominant game, shying away from upfront combat. According to Daedalic, players will be able to enter certain restricted areas. However, progressing and sneaking past those areas will eventually cause those areas to open up.
Switch gamers who are unsure if or when they'll upgrade to next-gen consoles should be excited, as the game will also be available to them.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch in 2021.
