Although the first Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago didn’t go necessarily as planned, the event was a success to Niantic and for those trainers who helped around the world two Legendary Pokémon will begin to appear in Pokémon GO immediately.
According to the official Pokémon Go blog, everyone attending the Pokémon Go Fest and those who caught Pokémon during the day to help have unlocked a bunch of rewards.
The following rewards will last until Monday, July 24, at 8 p.m. EDT:
Double Stardust
Double Candy
Double XP
Increased Pokémon encounters
Reduced hatching distance
Reduced buddy distance
However, the real prize was the Legendary Pokémon Lugia. Those in attendance at Pokémon Go Fest were able to catch it immediately, but now that Pokémon will appear for players around the world.
Articuno, on the other hand, was unlocked because the team who caught the most Pokémon within the Challenge Window was Team Mystic. But if you’re from Team Valor or Instinct, Niantic promises that Moltres and Zapdos will be catchable eventually.
To find the Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Articuno in Pokémon Go you’ll need to visit Gyms when an egg appears. The silhouettes of Articuno and Lugia should be shown and then you can join other trainers as you weaken it and then you’ll have your chance to catch it.
However, if you couldn’t make it to Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago other countries will be holding similar events especially in Europe and Japan.
Seven Safari Zones will give European players a chance to catch Pokémon that don’t normally appear in that region. Throughout August and September, these Safari Zones will appear in different cities across the continent.
