Mafia: Definitive Edition took the gaming community by storm with a brand-new gameplay video a month ago. With the game nearing its release, Hangar 13 announced on Twitter that Mafia: Definitive Edition will be a part of the Gamescom Open Night Live event on August 27.
Gamescom Open Night Live is a gaming event hosted by Geoff Keighley. The event is expected to feature 38 different games and will run for over two hours, excluding the 30-minute pre-show. You can watch the show on TheGameAwards' YouTube channel or Gamescom's Twitch Page.
Earlier today, Hangar 13 took to Twitter to announce that Mafia: Definitive Edition will be getting a brand-new trailer at Gamescom this week. Unlike the last trailer, which showcased gameplay, the upcoming trailer will be focused on narrative elements and remade cutscenes. The trailer will be revealed at 2:00 pm ET on August 27.
Unlike Mafia II: Definitive Edition, which was a remaster of the original game, Mafia: Definitive Edition is a complete remake of the first Mafia game. According to Hangar 13, Mafia: Definitive Edition was completely built from the ground up, introducing new gameplay elements, while staying loyal to the original 2002 version. The remake has made some important adjustments to the game, like widening the roads of Heaven City for a better driving experience and allowing players to choose a preferred difficulty. Nonetheless, the overall game is said to remain the same as the original Mafia.
Mafia: Definitive Edition's first trailer was a short one, clocking in at just a minute. The short trailer gave us a glimpse at new character models and the setting, but given how short the trailer was, we couldn't appreciate all the hard work put into the remake. We hope that this time around the trailer will be long enough, showcasing the important aspects of Mafia: Definitive Edition much more clearly.
Mafia: Definitive Edition will release on September 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
