Though oddly excluded from the Jan. 12 Nintendo Switch Presentation, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will hit the new hybrid console on April 28, shortly after the March 3 release date of the Switch.
Want to have a major, no-holds barred throwdown with some of your besties on the Rainbow Road? The game will support up to eight characters via local wireless multiplayer.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe adds a new maps, characters and game modes to the Wii U's original Mario Kart 8. New characters will include some classic franchise baddies, like Dry Bones, King Boo and Bowser Jr. You can also choose two characters from Splatoon to jump behind the wheel of your kart.
Polygon reports players will be able to carry two items at once, adding another level of strategic complexity to the beloved fast-paced racer, and that popular items from older games, including the high-jump Feather and item-snatching Boo, will be included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The Switch Deluxe edition of Mario Kart 8 will also include all previous DLC from the Wii U release.
