NetEase Games confirmed five new characters that will be coming to the playable roster of its PvP hero shooter Marvel Rivals.
The newly announced heroes are Black Widow, Cloak and Dagger, Iron Fist, Squirrel Girl, and Wolverine. The latest reveal grows the game's total roster to more than 30 Marvel superheroes and villains.
Marvel Rivals Character Roster
Playable characters in Marvel Rivals include iconic individuals such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Groot, and many more. NetEase Games teased that Galacta has assembled more heroes to take on the ultimate challenge in the game.
The characters have come from different areas, from Tokyo 2099 to the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda and even Hydra Charteris Base. This gives players a lot of more options to choose from when going into the fray.
Marvel Rivals is set to launch soon and is a free-to-play, team-based PvP hero shooter. NetEase Games describes it as a thrilling and fast-paced title. Players will fight in a variety of maps with destructible environments, according to Eurogamer.
Marvel Games head Jay Ong also noted that the game is one of the team's "most ambitious game development projects." He also said that Marvel Rivals is a game that the developer has poured its heart and soul into.
The hero shooter is set to come out as a full release on Dec. 6, 2024. The developer previously apologized to fans earlier this year.
This was when players and content creators criticized the studio for a playtest terms of service contract that prohibited them from making "statements that are detrimental to the reputation of the game."
New Launch Trailer
Since the beta version of Marvel Rivals, the game's roster has continued to grow with every reveal of new characters. Some of the latest confirmed heroes include Captain America, Hawkeye, and Moon Knight, Game Rant said.
The full roster for the game was revealed in the launch trailer that was just released by NetEase Games.
One of the more obscure characters introduced in the latest trailer is Squirrel Girl. She has a furry tail and her signature ability is being able to communicate with squirrels.
But fan-favorite Wolverine is probably the most anticipated hero to be confirmed in Marvel Rivals. A fun bit of information about the X-Men character is that he has a combo attack with the Hulk in the game.
The combo move is called "fastball special" where Hulk throws Wolverine at other heroes, which is a famous and more often than not humorous comic book attack, according to Forbes.
