Microsoft Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition is here! The developers have introduced five new aircraft, VR controller support, and tons of improvements and bug fixes.
New Aircraft
Those who’ve watched Top Gun may want to pilot a fighter jet themselves in Microsoft Flight Simulator. In Update 1.21.13.0, that is realized with the game’s first-ever military jet: the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet.
Aside from that, the devs partnered with German company Volocopter to provide you with something quite unique. The “VoloCity” is an urban air taxi and its main highlight is it can make pinpoint landings. This is a peek of what you can expect in 2022 when the developers will launch more helicopters in the flight sim.
Other aircraft introduced in this update include the Pilatus PC-6 Porter, the CubCrafters NX Cub, and the Aviat Pitts Special S1S.
New Features
The Game of the Year Edition has introduced a lot of improvements. The first is that you can now enable DirectX 12 in the settings. You can now get the benefits of using the newest version, such as better CPU utilization, improved efficiency, among other things.
You can now use VR controllers as well. There are a couple of things to keep in mind though. You can only have one controller active at a time. Most airplanes have been updated, but if you’re piloting one that doesn’t support such controllers yet, you will be notified via a pop-up message.
