The platforming series classic Mighty Switch Force! will be launching a packaged collection of its four games on July 25. The Mighty Switch Force! Collection will be available digitally for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC via Steam for a total of $19.99.
WayForward Technologies, publisher for the Mighty Switch Force! series, announced the release through a video on their official YouTube channel. WayForward creative director Matt Bozen also had a few words to say regarding the announcement.
“Fans have been asking to see more of Mighty Switch Force! for a while now, so we’re very happy to finally answer those requests and bring the series to current platforms,” Bozen said. “With four games’ worth of content for less than $20, Mighty Switch Force! Collection will have more action, challenge, and savings than you can throw an Ugly Twitching Dog at!”
The four games included in the package will be Mighty Switch Force!, Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition, Mighty Switch Force! 2, and Mighty Switch Force! Academy. Ever since its release in 2011 for the Nintendo 3DS, the series has never been made available for other platforms except for PC, so it is certainly a welcome addition for fans of the platforming genre that prefer Sony or Microsoft consoles.
Mighty Switch Force! revolves around a group of convicts known as the “Hooligan Sisters,” who are imprisoned in Planet Land. During their escape, one of them breaks open a canister that causes Planet Land to become infested with monsters. The “Galactic Penal Squad” then asks for help from cybernetic peace officer Patricia Wagon. They authorize her to use her Siren Helmet and Pellet Shooter to capture the criminals. Throughout her mission, she will encounter General Gendarmor, who will bail her out if the battles get too tough, Ugly Twitching Dog (U.T.D.), who can create reload points, and HQ, who is monitoring her moves along the way.
The sequel has you putting out fires instead of rounding up convicts, and Academy provides players with a widescreen perspective and multiplayer support. The Hyper Drive Edition is basically an HD remake of the original Mighty Switch Force!.
The series has always received positive acclaim from reviewers throughout its run. It should be a no brainer for platformer fans and newbies alike to pick this up for its upcoming package deal.
