More gameplay information has been released for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, along with a few videos. While most of the article will be familiar to those who already know about Mirror’s Edge, the biggest news details Faith’s new gadgets.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is all about movement, so getting around is incredibly important. Players will need to pay attention to their momentum and make sure they have enough to carry Faith across any gap or jump. There is also a new Shift move, which will allow for short bursts of speed in any direction, as well as the Quickturn, which allows for fast 90 or 180 degree turns.
As for the gadgets, Faith will have a Mag Rope and a Disruptor. The Mag Rope is a new way to get around, allowing players to latch onto objects, then climb the rope up. Faith also has a Disruptor in her gloves, allowing her to destroy KrugerSec and AI systems with the touch of her fingers.
Developer DICE has also carried the emphasis of movement over to combat as well. Faith will use her momentum and the environment to fight off enemies. If players maintain movement and action, they can build up Focus. Once Faith has gained Focus, enemies will not be able to hit her. By maxing out Focus, she enters a state called Flow, allowing her to attack in new and more powerful ways.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on May 24.
