MMORPG fans on PS4 looking for something other than Final Fantasy XIV need to just wait for about a month and a half more. That is when we’ll see another amazing MMO title finally release on the console.
With preorders now live on the PlayStation Store, developer Pearl Abyss has announced that their highly popular MMO Black Desert will see officially launch for the PlayStation 4 on August 22. The console release was first announced during E3 2019, and the PlayStation 4 is one of the last platforms Black Desert has been made available on. Currently, the game is available to play on the Xbox One, PC, and mobile, with the player count not being too shabby, either – the game sits at over 20 million registered users worldwide across the three platforms.
The pre-order announcement came with a minute-long trailer for the game, which highlights what Black Desert has to offer. It also shows some of the bonuses you get from pre-ordering, so check out the trailer below to find out more.
As far as MMOs go, Black Desert is your pretty standard fare, filled with quests, monsters, grinding and a ton of other stuff to do. That said, I do have to give props to its incredibly powerful character creator, which is hailed as one of the most in-depth and expansive in all of video games. Having tried it out years ago during a beta, it was amazing to see in action, as you can basically recreate anyone, including yourself, in Black Desert – provided you have the patience and talent for it.
In terms of combat, Black Desert utilizes a fast-paced, combo-oriented combat system in which you chain skills together. The setting is also quite expansive, featuring a huge open world to explore – from the seaside towns of Velia and Olvia, to the sprawling expanse of Calpheon and the deserts of Valencia. It also offers life skills, known as professions in other MMOs, like fishing, trading, hunting, crafting, and more.
There are three editions now available for pre-order, each with its own pre-order bonus. Each edition also comes with its own set of bonuses, like Value Packages, Pearls, and pets. The Standard Edition features an In-game title and 3x Elion’s Tear as pre-order bonuses; the Deluxe Edition features an In-game title, 48 hours early access to the game, a Shepherd exclusive pet and 5x Elion’s Tear; and the Ultimate Edition features an In-game title, 48 hours early access to the game, a Tier 2 Fogan Monster Pet, a Shudad Outfit Set and 10x Elion’s Tear.
