'Monster Hunter Wilds' Second Open Beta Surprises Everyone With Brand-New Monster—When Is It Coming?

"Monster Hunter Wilds" first open beta took place three months ago and we're done exploring the Alpha Doshaguma hunt and other features. Now, the second open beta is kicking off across consoles and PC with a new unannounced monster.

If you want to join in the upcoming beta, here's what you need to know to make the most out of this monster-hunting experience.

When Will 'Monster Hunter Wilds' Second Open Beta Start?

The second open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds will be open to everyone in select time slots, depending on which time zone you're from. Don't be late for this great event and take note of the corresponding times:

  • North America (West Coast - PST): 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6
  • North America (East Coast - EST): 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6
  • Europe (CET - Paris): 4 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7
  • United Kingdom (GMT): 3 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7
  • Japan (JST - Tokyo): 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7

The beta will end on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. PST / 10 p.m. EST for North America. The same time applies on Thursday, Feb. 13, for the second weekend, according to GamesRadar.

Players should always be prepared for beta servers to have a high volume of traffic and for some downtimes.

How to Access Monster Hunter Wilds's Open Beta on PS5, Xbox, and PC

Access to the "Monster Hunter Wilds" open beta is pretty easy on PS5, Xbox, and PC, though it requires downloads from a few specific sources.

If you have a PS5 or an Xbox, head to the official PlayStation or Xbox store to download the beta client. For PC gamers, ensure your platform supports the game's system requirements and download it directly from Capcom's or affiliated sites.

Just be aware that because this is a beta, it's not guaranteed that everything included will accurately be depicted in the final release.

Capcom explicitly stated that "some features might still be experimental and are therefore subject to changes based on our test results that come after this Open Beta phase".

What to Expect in Second Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta

With the new round of testing comes all-new content from "Monster Hunter Wilds," including new hunts, features, and the following:

  • Story Introduction and Chatacabra Tutorial Hunt
  • The Doshaguma Hunt
  • The Gypceros Hunt *new for Beta 2*
  • Arkveld Advanced Hunt Encounter *new for Beta 2*
  • Weapons Training Area in Base Camp *new for Beta 2*
  • Character and Palico Creator, transferable to the main game
  • Multiplayer Support, featuring cross-platform SOS flares, private lobbies, and Online Single Player Mode

The unannounced new monster Hirabami-Leviathan of the Iceshard Cliffs will soon come as well.

How to Unlock Exclusive Rewards in 'Monster Hunter Wilds' Beta

According to Polygon, you can participate in the second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta to gain special rewards to use in the full game:

  • Stuffed Felyne Teddy Pendant (Cosmetic item — same as from the first open beta)

Open Beta Test 2 Bonus Item Pack featuring:

  • 10 Raw Meat
  • 3 Shock Traps
  • 3 Pitball Traps
  • 10 Tranq Bombs
  • 3 Large Barrel Bombs
  • 5 Armor Spheres
  • 10 Flash Pods
  • 10 Large Dung Pods

The only requirement to unlock all these rewards is to create a character in the beta and bring that into the full release. That means your progress and rewards will carry over, and you'll be at an advantage once the game officially releases.

An online connection is required for these items to carry over into the full game.
