Battlefield Labs, a new community test initiative for the upcoming game in the series is now open for early testers. Electronic Arts (EA) aims to redeem itself after "Battlefield 2042's" poor release, and actively engage players in the "biggest playtest" in franchise history to regain trust in the development process.
EA Reveals Battlefield Studios to Shape the Future of the Franchise
As it announced Battlefield Labs, EA also unveiled Battlefield Studios, a collaboration between four development teams: DICE, Ripple Effect, Criterion, and Motive. Each studio has a distinct purpose:
DICE
- Single-player content development.
- Single-player feature support.
- Multiplayer development leadership.
Motive
- Single-player content and multiple multiplayer maps.
Ripple Effect
- Creating the still unrevealed Battlefield experience.
Criterion
- More single-player feature support.
These reorganizations show that EA is serious about providing that authentic and nicely finished Battlefield experience.

EA will be opening registration for players into Battlefield Labs. However, spots will be available only to some. There will be very few thousand admitted at first; however, plans are to have tens of thousands over time.

What's in Battlefield Labs
Players will get early access to test mechanics, concepts, and game features, providing important feedback directly to DICE. Players should anticipate bugs, crashes, and content that is still unfinished, though EA emphasizes this is a collaboration to refine the game before it launches.
"Battlefield Labs is our most ambitious community collaboration in franchise history. We want to build Battlefield with our community and test mechanics before public release," DICE said.
Unlike a traditional beta, Battlefield Labs will run multiple test phases, evolving based on the input of players.
Battlefield Labs Testing Schedule
The first wave of Battlefield Labs testing will be coming in the coming weeks. This is not a structured beta program, but rather sessions will be held on a periodic basis, and the details will be communicated directly to the selected players.
Game Modes and Features Being Tested
According to EA, core game modes of "Battlefield," such as "Conquest" and "Breakthrough," will be included in the testing phases. Other testing will include:
- Gunplay mechanics
- Vehicle balancing
- Destruction physics
- Improvements in map design
- Class system refinements (Assault, Engineer, Support, Recon)
EA also hinted at new gameplay mechanics and experimental features that will be revealed through Battlefield Labs.
How Players Can Share Feedback
Those players selected will join a private Discord server where real-time feedback is allowed. Regular input will be collected by EA to determine which elements need to be improved before the final release.
Public recaps will also be shared so that even those who are not part of the testing will get transparency.
NDA Restrictions on Battlefield Labs Participants
Participants in Battlefield Labs have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement, which means they cannot post gameplay footage, screenshots, or details outside of official feedback channels. This keeps unpolished content from leaking before the official launch.
