There are a lot of fantastic choices for starting weapons in Monster Hunter: World, but for those looking for the easiest when it comes to ranged options there is nothing simpler than the good ol’ Bow. In fact, this weapon is one of the highest-tiered thanks to its incredible clear rate in solo mode and lots of room for different builds which work differently for various monsters.
For beginners who opt into this powerful weapon, there are many possible builds to choose from. However, if you want the best available on the outset, one that doesn’t require a lot of farming and will easily stomp out behemoths, then check out this great starter build for the Bow in Monster Hunter: World.
- Bow – Flying Kadachi Strikebow (Rank 7)
- Helm – Rath Soul beta (Rank 7)
- Body – Rathalos beta (Rank 6)
- Vambraces – Kaiser beta (Rank 8)
- Coil – Odogaron beta (Rank 6)
- Greaves – Lavasioth beta (Rank 6)
- Charm – Fitness Charm
This is a great starting point for any Bow user to get started on dealing serious amounts of damage without insane amounts of farming. The materials and components are also quite easy to farm, with the hardest being the Kaiser Vambraces, as they drop from the elder dragon Teostra. If you're only starting out, it would be a good idea to farm those materials with other people you play with, just to have an easier time overall. Putting all of its stats together, you get these bonuses:
- Rathalos Mastery – Critical Element
- Weakness Exploit +3
- Critical Boost +1
- Critical Eye +2
- Speed/Power Shots +1
- Constitution +3
To greatly enhanced the potency of this build, try going for three element jewels to boost your elemental damage. For the other slots, the High Rank reward Attack jewel is a great choice, in addition to anything that boosts critical damage like Crit Boost and Mind’s Eye.
In general, building towards the Rathalos sets are a good idea, since they come with both Critical Element and Mind’s Eye bonuses, both of which are very beneficial to Bow users. Just remember to always take Constitution for the charm, as the fixed stamina depletion rate is invaluable to Bow users who are often dashing about and on the go.
Monster Hunter World is now available to play on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
