Following the announcement of Rick and Morty making it into the roster, publisher Warner Bros. Games and developer Player First Games announced two new characters for Season 1 of the crossover fighting game MultiVersus. First is Black Adam, the supervillain/antihero from DC comics, and Stripe, the mischievous mogwai who was one of the first of his kind to turn into a gremlin, as seen in the cult classic film Gremlins. These make four new characters arriving in the first season of MultiVersus. To celebrate it, the official Twitter account showed a new key art for the game, which you can check out down below.
These two new characters will be coming to the game sometime during Season 1. Morty was previously announced to be coming next week, August 23, while Rick will be released sometime in the same season.
Black Adam is the latest DC character confirmed for the roster and the fifth overall from the comic giant. He is best known as a frequent foil to Shazam, and he recently rose to popularity, thanks to his first upcoming live-action movie, Black Adam, where he will be played by none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Stripe is a bit of a more left-field addition, as it has been quite some time since Gremlins has been active in any industry. Stripe, the main antagonist of Gremlins, is an aggressive and troublesome mogwai who leads a group of others into evolving as dangerous killer gremlins. Gremlins is considered by many as a cult classic, spawning two sequels, with the third one currently in active development.
Besides these new characters, a Battle Pass was also launched alongside MultiVersus’ latest update, bringing free and premium rewards for players to enjoy. Some premium rewards include a variant of Taz based on Space Jam, a variant of Harley Quinn based on her appearance in Task Force X, variants for Tom and Jerry based on their detective alter-egos, XP boosts, and taunts for various characters. The free side of the pass includes a single variant at level 50 called "I’m Freakin’ Robin" for LeBron James.
