Bandai Namco has built a reputation for games based on popular anime, including Naruto, Dragon Ball and One Piece. Now, a brand new site from the publisher might be teasing a My Hero Academia game.
The new teaser site shows a gif of a microwave. When you press it, the appliance opens up to reveal an egg, then a countdown appears. Some data miners found the next gif on the site, showing the same microwave and a grenade.
Check out the My Hero Academia site gif below.
A ton of My Hero Academia references on the site suggest a brand new game is on the way, but we’ll have to wait until at least Dec. 4 to find out more. For instance, the URL of the teaser site has MHA in it. Also, the microwave is a reference to an arc in the manga/anime when My Hero Academia’s main protagonist, Deku, trains with the veteran hero, Gran Torino on how to control the power of One for All.
Gran Torino used a microwave to explain how One for All’s power works inside the wielder’s body. If Deku used too much power at once, the result would be an explosion, like an egg warmed up in the microwave. This taught the young hero how to use only a fraction of the power until he learns to handle the immense strength of One for All. The second gif shows a grenade appearing out of the microwave, a nod to Bakugo, Deku’s former friend and rival.
So what type of video game can this My Hero Academia title be? Bandai Namco has had success with anime-inspired fighting games, like Naruto Shippuden and Dragon Ball Xenoverse series. One of the publisher’s most anticipated titles of 2018 is Dragon Ball FighterZ, published by Bandai Namco, so we can assume that if a My Hero Academia game is coming it will be a fighting game. But the publisher can go down many routes with MHAk, so we’ll just have to wait until early December to learn more.
