November’s shaping up to be a bit of an uneven month for Netflix subscribers. There’s quite a bit of great stuff leaving in November 2016, but a slightly underwhelming collection of titles coming in to take their place. There’s quite a lot of children’s programming and Second World War documentaries coming to Netflix in November (yawn), but there’s also some exciting original programming, a couple Hollywood classics and one of this year’s biggest family-friendly blockbusters.
Looking for a Halloween binge? Check out our list of the horror movies on Netflix. The streaming service doesn’t have the greatest collection, but there’s a couple of gems in there.
Best of the new movies and tv shows coming to Netflix in November 2016
The African Queen (Nov. 1)
This classic 1951 drama/romance, set in the years of the First World War, stars Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart as unlikely companions on an East African river boat, bent on destroying a German gunboat. It’s a fast-paced, rollicking adventure film and both the leads are nothing less than stellar. Still not convinced? The African Queen holds a 100% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life (Nov. 25)
This Netflix-helmed, four-episode reboot of the beloved series reintroduces fans to all their favorite faces from Stars Hollow. Judging from the recent trailer, A Year In The Life will focus on how Rory, Lorelai and Emily face the challenges of lives that continue to change and evolve. Each of the ladies are at a crossroads, but it's clear they have each other to rely on. You can watch the new trailer above.
