Neverwinter: Infernal Descent is officially out for the PC. This is the latest update for Neverwinter and is based mainly on the Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus tabletop adventure. The update arrives on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this February 25.
While Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus may be a tabletop adventure, it also serves as the prequel to the Baldur’s Gate III video game. In this particular adventure, players descend into Avernus, the first layer of Neverwinter's Nine Hells. This is the same for the Infernal Descent expansion. Players go down into the fiery depths of hell and get to experience an endgame campaign made specifically for level 80 characters.
That's right, the new update follows the storyline of Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus. Here the Vallenhas Manor has been taken to Avernus, which is ruled by the Archdevil Zariel. The campaign is pretty straightforward as players need to save people from the clutches of Zariel.
It’s not just about the new Baldur’s Gate adventure though, as the new also offers new Neverwinter characters. There’s the Paladin Alric Vallenhas, who is on a quest to redeem himself. There’s also the Bard Etrien Sael, who continues to protect those who are loyal to the Vallenhas family.
So what else is coming with the update? The Vallenhas Estate Adventure Zone has players explore the region around the Manor while fighting against the forces of evil. Players can also try A House in Need Story Instance which not only tells the story of the Vallenhas family, but also introduces the two new characters mentioned.
For those who want to test their skills, there’s The Last Bastion Story Instance. Here players need to defeat a rather strong devil. This one is also a treat as the quest is repeatable. Additionally, there's another way to test one's skills with the Infernal Citadel Dungeon. Located inside a citadel floating above Avernus, this dungeon offers an epic challenge that is sure to test the hardiest of adventurers.
Neverwinter is a free-to-play action MMORPG that offers epic dungeons and fast-paced combat. Players not only explore the city of Neverwinter, but also the surrounding areas while learning the history of this iconic fabled metropolis.
