Alien: Covenant is moving full speed ahead as the Prometheus follow-up continues to shoot in Sydney. Last month we got our first look at production via leaked photos showcasing expansive sets and lots of creepy dead body thingies. Now 20th Century Fox has released a new set photo that features director Ridley Scott and star Michael Fassbender.
As you can see, Fassbender, who plays the evil android, David, has a head on his shoulders once again -- literally. That’s not too surprising considering David is, well… a robot, and Fassbender’s star power is way too important to throw away for plot continuity! In fact, David is the key plot element of Alien: Covenant. Take a look at an synopsis for Alien: Covenant via SuperHeroHype:
Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Along with Fassbender, Alien: Covenant stars Danny McBride, Billy Crudup and Carmen Ejogo. It arrives in theaters Aug. 4, 2017. Until then, pray every night to ensure it’s better than Prometheus.
