Castlevania made a huge modern name for itself with two of its AAA titles - Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Lords of Shadow 2. Lords of Shadow 2 was released back in 2014, and ever since then, the franchise has been rather quiet. Although we got a Netflix animated series from the franchise, a game has still been highly anticipated.
Now, there is news that Castlevania is getting a brand-new game after a long time, however, it's going to be on mobile devices. That said, from what we know, the game seems quite cool.
Castlevania is one of the oldest franchises when it comes to video games. The franchise has been around since 1986 back in the NES days and we should say that it has held up quite well over the years, with huge entries like Lords of Shadow and Lords of Shadow 2.
The news regarding the Castlevania mobile game was broken by Twitter user Daniel Amhad. He also posted a short clip along with the tweet and we must say that it's quite interesting. It is said that the game is being built by Chinese developer Shengqu Games and Konami, and will be called Moonlight Rhapsody. From the clip posted by Amhad, it seems that Moon Rhapsody will look quite similar to the classic Castlevania games.
It is also great to see that Konami hasn't abandoned the Castlevania franchise. Konami famously announced they were scaling back their video game development output, instead choosing to focus on mobile games and gambling machines.
Shengqu Games, the Chinese developer team working with Konami, is also known for developing some great titles like Fallout Shelter Online, MapleStory, and other popular titles. We are hoping that Moonlight Rhapsody will turn out to be a fun mobile game and perhaps a powerful step toward marking Castlevania's return to the AAA landscape.
