Series 10 will mark Capaldi’s final season playing the Doctor and longtime showrunner Steven Moffat’s last year at the helm, so fans are expecting a drama-filled spate of episodes to send both out with a bang. From the look of this trailer, the season seems poised to deliver. There’s all sorts of exotic locations on show, along with new creatures and elaborate set pieces to delight the eye. Of course, there’s always time for a jaunt to Victorian times, too! Check out the new trailer below.
From the looks of things, it seems as though much of Doctor Who’s tenth season will have a decidedly extraterrestrial, futuristic vibe: the trailer shows shots of a space station, the Doctor and Bill wearing astronaut suits and some familiar alien-abduction staples -- mystery pyramids and disconcerting cornfields.
Back in October, the team behind Doctor Who came to New York Comic Con to discuss the tenth season of the show. While they didn’t reveal much in terms of plot, showrunner Brian Minchin repeatedly described the season as “brand new,” which definitely jibes with the spacey feel of this latest footage. Minchin explained, “We went to particular pains to make sure the first episode is really an ‘Episode 1,’ it can be the first episode you’ve ever seen. It explains the entire mythos of Doctor Who -- in the two minutes it takes -- and you can start there.”
The first episode of Doctor Who Series 10, ‘The Pilot,’ airs April 15 on BBC One and BBC America. What do you think of the latest footage from Doctor Who? Are you sorry to see Capaldi and Moffat leave the series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
