In the latest update to the augmented reality Pokémon game, Pokémon Go, a new wave of Generation 4 Pokémon have been introduced. As of the update, players will be able to find and catch Gible, Cherubi, Hippopotas, Burmy, and more of the Gen 4 Pokémon from Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. The update also incudes some new items, some of which are evolution-related and will allow new evolutions for the ever-versatile Eevee.
The update introduces many of the Gen 4 Pokémon that were first introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Among these are the Dragon/Ground-type Gible, the Grass-type Cherubi, the Ground-type Hippopotas, the Bug-type Burmy, and more.
Developer Niantic has also introduced new Lure-type items which are used to attract specific types of Pokémon. The new Lure items are Glacial, Mossy, and Magnetic. Purchasable from the in-game store, Lure items can be placed at Poké Stops, and will attract specific Pokémon types depending on the Lure used, i.e. Glacial Lures will attract Ice-type Pokémon, Mossy Lure will attract Grass-type Pokémon, etc.
However, Lures can also be used to aid in the evolution of certain Pokémon. Using a Glacial Lure with Eevee will evolve the Pokémon into the Ice-type Glaceon, while using a Mossy Lure will allow him/her to evolve into the Grass-type Leafeon. Using the Magnetic Lure with Pokémon like Nosepass will allow him/her to evolve into Probopass. Using different Lures with different Pokémon might yield surprising evolutionary results.
When Pokémon Go debuted in 2016, it quite literally took the world by storm. However, following some issues in the post-launch updates, the Pokémon Go craze dissipated quite as rapidly as it had come. With the recent updates to Pokémon Go, Niantic is hopeful that it might attract more loyal Pokémon fans, and bring back returning players with new features, new Pokémon, and new possibilities.
