On Friday, the official Spider-Man: Homecoming Twitter account unveiled a brand new teaser poster for the film, showing the webslinger kicking back with his headphones on a sunny New York day, with Avengers Tower looming in the background.

We’ve known for some time that Spider-Man will be among the expansive cast of Avengers: Infinity War, and that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark / Iron Man in Homecoming. However, this new poster seems to suggest that Spider-Man joining the Avengers may be a larger part of Homecoming’s plot than previously expected.

Way back in April 2015, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige insisted Homecoming would not be yet another introductory Spider-Man movie: “It will not be an origin story. But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers."

The image also seems to reinforce that Homecoming will bring back the classic Peter Parker fans know and love: an anxious and sometimes awkward teen from Queens, skipping out on homework and finding time to play superhero. He’s a bit rougher around the edges, a bit less mature and unsure of himself than the typical X-Men or Avengers hero.

Check out the new poster below:

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7. Tom Holland will reprise the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, which he first played in Captain America: Civil War. The film also stars Zendaya, Michael Keaton and Marisa Tomei.

What do you make of the new Spider-Man: Homecoming teaser poster? Do you want the Avengers and/or Tony Stark to play a key role in the film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
