Will Smith, 47, will receive the Generation Award at the MTV Awards on April 10. Fellow Suicide Squad cast members, Jared Leto (The Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) will also be in attendance and the supervillain crew will be bringing a gift along with them: a new Suicide Squad trailer.
It’s unclear whether the clip will largely showcase Smith as Deadshot in celebration of his well-deserved award. We haven’t received too many details on Deadshot’s character in the movie so a clip focusing solely on the gun-slinging antihero wouldn’t be a bad thing. The trailer could either be a segway into Smith’s Generation Award portion, or air immediately following. It’s about time Warner Bros. steps up the marketing for Suicide Squad and tapping into Smith’s fan base would be a smart way to start.
The last Suicide Squad trailer, set to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” was flipping awesome. The stakes are high for the new reel seeing the first was just brilliant. It’s safe to say we’re all hoping Suicide Squad can get DC Comics movie adaptations back on track after Batman V Superman received mixed reviews.
The MTV Awards air Sunday, April 10, at 8 p.m. Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson will host. Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5.
