The upcoming July update for New World is now live in the public test realms. The highlights are the Summer Medleyfaire event, the introduction of musical instruments, and the new Barnacles & Black Powder expedition. Today, we'll be looking into some of these upcoming content and features.
New Event
During the violence and tragedy of Aeternum, a Medleyfaire Maestro has announced that it's time to party away those woes. Summer Villages have been erected in Brightwood, Everfall, Weaver's Fen, and Monarch's Bluffs.
In the Summer Medleyfaire Event, players can raise their reputation with the Maestro through quests like catching fish. Players can even frame their favorite catches for their home at Mount-A-Catch stations found in every village.
Musical Instruments
Musical Instruments are arriving in Aeternum, and players can learn five instruments. They can collect and master 31 songs in this upcoming patch. Players may also play solo or with a group of up to five Adventurers. The musical instruments are:
- Guitar
- Mandolin
- Upright Bass
- Drums
- Azoth Flute
Songs are unlocked by salvaging pages hidden across Aeternum. Those who can finish Summer Medleyfaire quests earn a special set of pages and starter instruments. Players can craft better instruments with the Furnishing trade skill. Furnishing can also roll new Music trade skill specific perks.
Players can do a performance that rewards them with trade skill XP and various buffs. The better the performance, the stronger buffs and the more trade skill XP is received. Spectators who enjoy the performance also receive a buff and can toss a coin to the performers as a tip. Additional buffs are unlocked as trade skill XP increases. The buffs (in order of progression) are:
- Decidedly Dexterous: Gathering Speed increases by 75% for 30 to 90 minutes.
- Territorial Triumph: Territory Standing Bonus increases by 10% to 30% for 30 to 90 minutes.
- All Together Now: Group Character XP Sharing Bonus increases by 4% to 15% for 30 to 90 minutes.
- Song in your Step: Reduces Player Encumbrance by 200 to 1,000 for 30 to 90 minutes.
- Fortune’s Favor: Gathering Yield increases by 3% to 10% for 30 to 90 minutes.
- Luck’s Labor: Gathering Luck increases by 2% to 5% for 30 to 90 minutes.
Barnacles and Black Powder
The arrival of Admiral Blackpowder and his crew has resulted in a dark tide rising in Aeternum. There are quest givers in Cutlass Keys settlement along with the new docks on the territory’s eastern shore. They’ll be asking players to defeat evil in exchange for loot and renown as rewards.
