A new trailer for Nex Machina, the upcoming twin-stick shooter from Housemarque, confirms the game won’t be exclusive to the PlayStation 4. Those who’ve been pleading for the studio to bring its games back to PC can look forward to a visual treat when Nex Machina hits Steam.
Nex Machina is a twin-stick shooter inspired by games like Robotron and Smash TV. The game takes place in an age when humans have become so addicted to technology “that they cannot avert their eyes from portable devices anymore.” Players will participate in a war between mankind and the machines we created, all of which are now sentient and uninterested in working for an inferior species. Housemarque says the game will include more than 100 stages spread across five unique worlds, along with contributions from famed game designer Eugene Jarvis. And an update on Nex Machina ’s Steam page, attributed to the entire Housemarque team, suggests we won’t be waiting more than a few months for the game.
“Officially there is no date to announce yet, but our aim is to get Nex Machina out during the summer on PC and PS4,” the team wrote. “As twin-sticks go, the game will be controller focused, but we are also fine-tuning a mouse and keyboard control scheme as we speak.”
Housemarque also published minimum and recommended specs for its next twin-stick shooter. And both are surprisingly reasonable, given the promise of 4K support for Nex Machina and the eye candy (see: Resogun) Housemarque is known for. Here’s what the studio says you’ll need to run the game:
Minimum:
OS : 64 bit Windows 10 / 8 / 7
Processor : Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD FX-4300
Memory : 4 GB RAM
Graphics : 2 GB Video RAM - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R9 270
DirectX : Version 11
Network : Broadband Internet connection
Storage : 1 GB available space
Additional Notes: Requires SSE 4.1 support from CPU (Doesn't run on Phenom II)
