It’s only been a couple days since Square Enix last published a trailer for NieR: Automata, the upcoming action-RPG from PlatinumGames, but that didn’t stop the publisher from releasing another new promotional video during the business half of this year’s Tokyo Game Show. And those wishing the first clip was more substantive might be fans of today’s NieR: Automata trailer.
The second NieR trailer of the week is about twice as long as the first, at just under two minutes and 30 seconds, but there isn’t much more gameplay in our latest look at the game. Instead, the new trailer runs through brief shots of several characters from NieR: Automata, giving fans a chance to see how the final model for each compares to concept art for each character. Unfortunately, like the previous trailer, our latest look at NieR is narrated entirely in Japanese. So it will be difficult for Western audiences to take away much more than an appreciation for the art we’ll see in NieR: Automata at launch.
Square Enix also partnered with Famitsu to release additional information on the new and returning characters we’ll see in NieR: Automata at launch. The publisher held onto plenty of secrets, so you don’t need to worry about having any major plot points spoiled by the character descriptions, but we also understand that some players prefer to learn as little as possible about an upcoming game before launch. With that in mind, rather than reproduce the list here, we’re redirecting those interested in the character descriptions over to Siliconera for full translations.
