The hype for Nintendo's next-gen console is massive as the dedicated Direct event for the Switch 2 is already happening next year. Unsurprisingly, there have been numerous rumors regarding the console's release date.

It is expected that next week's Switch 2 Direct event will announce official details related to the console, including its possible release date, which is reportedly scheduled for later this year.

Nintendo Switch 2 Preorder Dates Leak From US Retailer

According to a report from Insider Gaming, a United States-based retailer, which has not been named, has recently been at the center of a leak involving internal emails and documents pertaining to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The leak includes information on what will the new console bring for users, including its preorder dates.

Should the leak be accurate, the Switch 2 console will not be available for preorder on the day of Direct event, which is scheduled for April 2. However, the rumored preorder date will not be a long wait after the said event.

Nintendo will allegedly open the preorders for the Switch 2 come April 9, but it was not clear from the leak if this would be for the Nintendo Store only or if it will also apply for third-party retailers.

It can be recalled that ComicBook Gaming revealed that Best Buy Canada has accidentally leaked that the Switch 2 preorders will begin on April 2.

When and What to Expect from Switch 2's Debut?

Despite this differing information for the Switch 2's preorder dates, another leak has claimed that Nintendo will release or ship the consoles come June, but no exact dates were shared by the leaker.

The latest leaks are now contradicting previous ones on when the preorders would take place, particularly as it may reportedly happen by April 2. Now, another source has claimed that it would be coming a week later.

That being said, the latest information claimed that after introducing the Switch 2 via the event, Nintendo would have a countdown clock for when the preorders would start, and it would serve as a reminder for users as well.

Furthermore, there is no expected shortage of Switch 2 console units once shipping begins as previous reports claimed that Nintendo made sure that there will be ample stocks available. Analysts have predicted that Nintendo would be able to sell as much as 20 million units of the Switch 2 device on its first year of availability, meeting the market's demands.
