Information about the Nintendo Switch is still minimal, and if you are hoping to get more news about the features and specs of Nintendo’s next console you will have to wait until next year.
According to Takashi Mochizuki of The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo won’t reveal any new information on the Nintendo Switch until 2017.
While the wait for any information on specs for the Nintendo Switch may be a test of patience, Nintendo did talk to Famitsu -- via Perfectly Nintendo -- about some burning questions surrounding the Switch, including battery life and backwards compatibility.
In terms of possible backwards compatibility, Nintendo stated that the Switch is not a successor to either the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, so don’t expect that functionality. However, Perfectly Nintendo points out that while the physical discs/cards won’t be compatible with the Switch, the door remains open for digital downloads to be transferred over.
As for the battery life of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo was tight-lipped on the subject, but did confirm that the console was designed so that users could play as long as possible, “comfortably”, even in places where you don’t have access to a power outlet. Specifications about the battery life will be shared at a later date.
The Nintendo Switch will release March 2017.
