So it turns out Kotaku was right. The long awaited space exploration game No Man’s Sky is going to be delayed until August 9 in the U.S. According to the PlayStation developer blog , Sean Murray of Hello Games said that the game is coming along smoothly, but the game is still not perfectly ready for release:
“As we approached our final deadlines, we realized that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special.”
Games nowadays are usually buggy nightmares. I will never forget or forgive what Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 looked like at launch. It was an unplayable mess that destroyed my favorite childhood franchise. When I hear a developer putting off a game’s release date to make it the best game it can be, I get hopeful.
No Man’s Sky is not an easy game to make. There are billions of planets, each with its own unique ecosystem and environments. It’s taken years to create everything in this game, all with a fairly small developer team.
If you’ve waited this long for No Man’s Sky , you can wait a few more weeks.
