While many were disappointed that Suda51’s appearance at MomoCon this year only yielded a PC and PS4 port announcement for Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, fans of the series can still hope for something else entirely as the Japanese developer has teased something new on his Twitter.
Is it No More Heroes 3, you may ask? Well, I’m not entirely sure. Better you check the tweet out for yourself below, and make up your mind as to what it is.
As vague as teasers go, this one is up there with the vaguest of them. The character art looks to be some sort of hairball creature with antennas and blue appendages, and I can’t for the life of me decide whether such a design would fit in with No More Heroes or another new IP entirely. That’s not the only thing that was revealed, however, as Goichi Suda, also known as Suda51, changed his profile picture to a never-before-seen character art, one that more closely resembles something out of the No More Heroes series.
Speculation time: the comments for the tweet are also confused as to what the tease may refer to. I do think that the chances of it being an entirely new IP and No More Heroes 3 is split half and half. My reasoning for a new IP is the fact that it looks like something from a fantasy title. While sure, you can argue that No More Heroes as a series isn’t entirely realistic – what with global assassins and just the general outlandish tone – it has never crossed into pure fantasy, either. It could then be reasoned that such a character design belongs in a new IP, one which could have been developed in secret at Grasshopper Manufacture.
At the same time, it could also be No More Heroes 3, purely because of how much hype has been built towards the potential sequel. From the moment of Suda51’s announcement of his attendance to MomoCon this year, it has been widely speculated that this may have something to do with a third iteration of No More Heroes. Considering the ports for the latest title to PS4 and the PC, I daresay it is time for a proper third sequel. The fans have waited long enough.
