Red Dead Redemption 2 rumors have been going on for months, but Rockstar has yet to make any announcements. Last month, Sony insiders allegedly claimed a new game from Rockstar would be announced during PlayStation Meeting 2016. Check out this tweet, on Aug. 12, from a PlayStation insider that goes by the name of @Tidux:
However, the Sony event came and went, so what's the deal? According to renowned GTA 5 tipster and YouTuber MrBossFTW, it's possible that a Rockstar announcement wouldn't arrive this year at all.
A similar series of events occured ahead of E3 2016 as well – Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick announced Take-Two would be at E3 "in a big way," which obviously stirred rumors of an imminent announcement from Rockstar. Of course, it never happened.
So will Rockstar make an announcement before the end of 2016? Possibly, but time is running out. What's more, even if Rockstar makes an announcement later this year, past timelines suggest that it will take more than a year, at the very least, for the game to actually release. This means Rockstar could miss a 2017 and not release a new title until 2018, which would be an extremely, uncharacteristically long drought for the big game studio.
With the announcement of PS4 Pro and the upcoming Xbox Scorpio, it's also possible that Rockstar is biding its time to build a new game that delivers 4K HDR. Time will tell whether this is truly the case.
In the meantime, check out MrBossFTW's video below. Do you believe Rockstar will make a new video game announcement this year, or wait until 2017? Let us know in the comment section.
