The vanilla WoW server known as Nostalrius will be reopened starting on Dec. 17. This news comes from a new trailer for the project, which can be watched below.
Nostalrius allows WoW players to go back in time, experiencing the MMO like it was back at launch. It also happens to be completely free. If you’re wondering if this is legal, well, not really.
The server had previously been shut down by Blizzard, who was looking to take the server hosts to court if the game weren’t taken offline. The team behind the project regrouped and have decided to ignore these requests, and keep moving forward.
More information about the release and server transfer will be announced next week.
While PvP and PvE both return on Dec. 17, it seems like only a matter of time before they are taken offline again by Blizzard. This project aims to continue running until Blizzard provides legitimate Legacy servers, so we’ll see who ultimately wins in the long run.
To get yourself back in classic WoW, head right here on Dec. 17 to create a new account and get going.
So what do you think? Are you interested in trying out Nostalrius to relive the days of old in World of Warcraft? Are you already counting down the days until this gets shut down again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
