It’s only been about a week since we learned Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas will make its console debut next month but the hits just keep coming for Finnish developer Cornfox & Brothers. The studio announced an Oceanhorn sequel on Monday, Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm, along with a slight expansion of the Cornfox team.
The first details on Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm were published on Monday morning, including an early screenshot, concept art and a bit of original music from the game. We also get our first look at the world map, which appears to preserve the ship-faring action from the first Oceanhorn while simultaneously offering larger land masses to explore.
According to Cornfox, Oceanhorn 2 has been in development for a little over a year and the next entry in the series will move players to an entirely new point on the Oceanhorn timeline. The protagonist will be a little older, as players probably expected from any potential sequel, but it sounds like Oceanhorn 2 won’t have much connection (other than gameplay) to its predecessor.
Sadly, the studio didn’t comment on any of the most important details, like a timetable for the debut of Oceanhorn 2 and/or the platforms Knights of the Lost Realm will be available for at launch. Obviously, the studio has plenty of time to reveal both and it doesn’t seem a stretch to assume Oceanhorn 2 will head to all the same platforms as its predecessor. But there’s also no telling what sort of exclusivity deal could be in the works behind-the-scenes. We’ll also have to keep waiting for the game’s first trailer.
